As part of the City of Santa Monica’s commitment towards continuous service improvement, the Human Services Division (HSD) is working with Canavan Associates to engage with community members, collect feedback, and make recommendations to improve services for Santa Monica’s most vulnerable.

What are the goals of the project?

  • Determine priorities. By engaging with a full range of community members, we will gain a better understanding of current and evolving needs regarding health and human services in Santa Monica.

  • Measure impact. By aligning programs and services to achieve clear and consistent outcomes, we will utilize data to better measure the real change in the lives of community members who are engaged in programming.

  • Improve services. By connecting the needs of the community to the performance of programs and services, we can work in collaboration with our internal and external partners to make measured, data-informed adjustments over time.

The Human Services Project is an extension of a Citywide effort to align our work with the outcomes defined in the Framework for a Sustainable City of Wellbeing. Through increased accountability and collaboration, we strive for continuous service improvement and a better experience for all community members.

How can You be involved?

Community engagement is key to the success of the Human Services Project. We want to hear from members of the entire community, whether you have received supportive services, felt you needed them, or are a general member of our community who has an idea or opinion.

Between open community meetings and opportunities to participate online, a few minutes of your time could help to improve the lives of your family, friends, and neighbors.
